Made it to 33 weeks!
I am really starting to feel the excitement of this new little soul that will be joining our family soon. My friend at the office, B, just had her baby on Thursday. B had a little boy as well and holding him was so amazing. Just knowing that I'm next, it was all too surreal - but it also made me get a few things into place for our little arrival.
I went to see my Dr. for my 33 week checkup, but she was in an emergency C-section. So I was only able to talk to the nurse. My next appt was scheduled 2 weeks out, but the Dr. called me later that afternoon and said for me to come in 1 week, not 2. I'm glad too, because I want to know if my cervix is still dilating.
This week brought on different contractions. In addition to the BH contractions, I have also been feeling sharper pains during contractions and intense waves of lower & upper back pain. Those are not as frequent as the BH ones, but it is nice to be able to distinguish the two. I am also experiencing a "shooting" pain down the front of my legs, starting at my hip and rushing down mid-thigh. It is so painful. It's not my sciatic nerve either, I discussed this with my nurse and she said sciatic pain runs down the back of your leg, not the front. So I don't know if this new pain is do to the exceptional amount of sedentary activity I'm experiencing on bed rest, or if the baby is just pushing on another type of nerve.
Taylor and I have been working on getting the baby's room set up. Thanks to his mom, we have a beautiful crib and changing table, and thanks to Uncie Park for helping us set up the crib! I had my first baby shower at work on Friday, and it was wonderful. We received a lot of diapers and wipes and tons of clothes and blankets for the little guy - which is good because I didn't have anything to put in his hospital bag at the time!
We miss our little doggie Penny terribly, but we are able to go to my parent's house every 2 weeks to visit her. I can't wait to get her back. At least she's happy with her cousin Pepper and I'm grateful my parents are willing to watch her for a little while. I don't think she'll want to leave! She's getting exercised and she gets to run around and play all day long.
Time for the fun stuff!
Weight Gain: 26 lbs - it's really starting to come on! I'm still "on track" but I am supposed to be gaining about 1 lb per week until the end, and that's exactly what's happening. My friends and family have also commented on my still growing belly. When I think it's not possible to stretch or get any bigger, I seem to keep growing.
Belly Button: Still an Innie.... I'm surprised it hasn't "popped" out yet. Maybe it will remain flat.
New Favorite thing: Maternity Shorts. Especially the maternity sweat shorts I can lounge around in and wear to bed....so comfortable.
